The rate of diabetes is soaring day by day in
Pakistan. Every family is suffering from diabetes-related complications. As
proven by the latest statistics, 33 million persons are diabetic in our
homeland. At every forthcoming moment, somebody is falling prey to it. Thus,
the prevention of such a mounting speed of this disease is a challenge.
The Diabetes Centre (TDC) is a not-for-profit
state–of–the–art healthcare facility located at Phulgran Stop (Near Toll Plaza,
Murree Expressway) Islamabad. It is a Shariah Compliant entity and is
established under Section 42 of the Companies Act 2017 of Pakistan. Our
hospital is the most important and largest centre, committed to diabetes
treatment in Pakistan.
TDC continues its operations under an organic
structure of management that includes Chairman, Member Board of Directors
(BODs) and Board of Advisory at the strategic level whereas MS and skeleton
staff at the internal level. BODs are veteran professionals in their respective
fields and areas.
At present, on February 8, 2023, a free medical camp was organized for screening and free check-ups of diabetes and its related complications. TDC at its main hospital in Islamabad organized this camp.
The aim was to warn TDC staff and local residents about the increasing prevalence of diabetes and to maximize efforts for diabetes prevention through free check-ups.
TDC MS, Retired Brigadier, Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan who was present on the spot supervised the camp and gave guidelines for the activities. The event started at 8 am and was attended by people of all ages from the surrounding localities and twin cities.
Thanks to the latest technological facilities, the participating people were told how much they were at risk of diabetes. Doctors and medical staff appeared to be fully engaged in daylong diabetes checkups and screening among the participants.
Along with this, Public Relations, Marketing and Communications and Patient Coordination Departments (PCD) were diligently guiding and supporting the camp participants. Samples taken from the participants and check-ups further strengthened the fact that diabetes is on the rise in Pakistan.
The chief guest of the camp, prominent social personality Mrs. Iram Shahzad also participated wherein she appreciated the TDC’s vision and efforts for the prevention of diabetes. Chairman Dr. Asjad Hameed said that people's awareness and our respective campaigns are very important to prevent diabetes. Camp activities continued till evening.
